Transitioning from Relaxed Perm to Sisterlocks and Loving It

This client also helped me complete my journey into certification. I was fortunate to have three clients who hair was totally different. Unlike the first two clients, this client hair was relaxed with two inches of natural growth. However, her natural growth was a short coarse tight curl. We knew it would love to lock. We’ve been trimming the relaxed ends gradually. When it gets to the length she is comfortable with, we will take off all the relaxed ends.















After a two day session (15 hours), we set her hair in rods so she could ease into the transition. However, she works out just about every morning so she braids and bend the ends to get a free style look.

My client has been into her Sisterlocks Journey for 8 months and we cut off all the relaxed ends. She's overjoyed and now feels that she is really into the journey with all her hair Sisterlocks.

Natural Sista went for the Sisterlocks

This client contributed to my certification. After trying the twist and traditional locks, she search the web and became interested in Sisterlocks…she also search for a Certified Consultant in the Stafford, VA area. As I’ve said before, “Sisterlocks is a Sisterhood.” She made contact with my Consultant who recommended me and vouch for my work.

After making contact with me and going through the consultation, we set a date for the Sisterlocks Session July 2006. The session was set for two days (17 Hours). She had been wearing her hair natural for years. She has beauty thick tight curly hair that loves to lock.

We curl her hair after the first session to give her a little style and get use to her Sisterlocks.

She loves wearing her hair freestyle now and it really suit her and her Sisterlocks. It' been Five Months and she here for a retightenting. Below is the pictures before her retightening January 2007.

Believing You Can Have Sisterlocks

This client and I are from New York and we grew up together. As a License Cosmetologist I tooked care of her hair and now a Sisterlocks Certified Consultant I still take care of her hair.

She made the commitment to me before I was trained to be my first client to use for certification. Although her hair had been natural for a while, it began thinning in the top area and around the edges. The texture had a very smooth curl and she couldn’t do anything with her hair. Her husband didn't believe her hair would lock. When she was natural, she had braid extensions put in her hair and her husband would find them around the house on the floor. She didn't realize she was loosing her extensions.

Unfortunately, she sprung her ankle the day before the session and she was very uncomfortable. So I brought my comfortable chair for her to sit in so she could elevate her leg. We made it a girls sleepover...we took breaks so she could move around. We had a wonderful dinner and breakfast with light snack during the breaks. It was pleasant, fun and memorable.




March 2006 a two day session comleted in 17 hours. We set it on the long spongy tube and style her hair.










This client is also a swimmer who has a pool in her back yard and swimmmed everyday the weather permitted. We had some slippage, however her hair started getting thicker. Pictures August 2006.

Well yeah, she's vain and wanted color from day one, however I told her she had to wait. She was patient and finally her locks were settling nicely and she had no slippage. After a few months I colored her hair and she couldn't be more please. Picture December 2006.




Her husband was very supportive and now he's believes he has a Sister in the house with Sisterlocks!

My Very First Client

My very first client was 6 years olds…very wise and patient. Her Grandmother has Sisterlocks and she wanted her hair like her Grandma. Although I couldn't use her for my certificatin, this was a Sisterlocks Session done with my Certified Sisterlocks Consultant. The session was completed in 10 hours. We had plenty of Walt Disney Fairy Tales videos. After each movie, we gave her a break with snacks, fruit and pizza. This truly was in experience and a beginning for me.

Remembering she's 6 years old, all 6 years old aren't too patient so you have to find distractions for them. During her retightenings, we watch videos and have snacks and fruit breaks. Her retightening are usually 2-4 hours...with the breaks it usually takes up to 5 hours.

As a Certifed Consultant, I will always remember how I got here.

I will always set higher goals to accommodate Sisters who want to start thier journey into Sisterlocks. I also want to become a Sisterlocks Trainer so we can have more Sisterlocks Consultant all over the Country.

After retiring in 2004, We travel to visit family more often.
