My Sister Denise, who is now a Sisterlocks Trained Consultant in Syracuse, NY started her Sisterlocks Journey in December 2007 with 2 inches of regrowth and 3 inches of relaxed ends. When she decided to become a Sisterlocks Consultant, she started her Sisterlocks Journey. Below are pictures of her starting her journey.

Well, after 9 months she became a Sisterlocks Trained Consultant and now is fully Sisterlocks. I cut off those relaxed ends and she now has beautiful healthy Sisterlocks. Check out her new Sisterlocks photos below. I am pleased that I influenced my Big Little Sister, and happy that she has joined the Sisterlocks Consultant Family. Sisters Sisterlocks Sessions in Syracuse New York

On September 20-23, 2008 my Sister Denise Bryant attended the Sisterlocks Training in Philadelphia. I spent the week of October 7 through October 14 with her in Syracuse, NY. Denise had two new heads scheduled along with a retightening and a consultation. The excitement in that house was wonderful for her and me. Denise's excitement was starting her Sisterlock Consultant Business and mind was assisting her getting started. We've shared a lot as sisters, and this was the ultimate! We are now both Sisterlocks Consultants. I look forward to helping her get her Certification as soon as possible. The ladies she started on their Sisterlocks Journey are below. SYRACUSE, NY "STOKES" FAMILY REUNION

It’s always a great “Summer” when you can include a Family Reunion. My immediate family is in Syracuse, New York and I come from a large family with Aunts and Uncles who gave me plenty of cousins. Living in the Metropolitan area since 1977, I have three first cousins with their children and mind only son. My Son being an only child looks forward to the family reunion in Syracuse where he gets to see and hang out with his cousins in New York. My Sister Denise Bryant and Cousin Franzine Stokes both came to Stafford, VA to get their Sisterlocks installed. We were able to see each other more in one year than in 5 years so Sisterlocks brings family together too. My Sister is really excited about her Sisterlocks Training coming up on September 20-23, 2008 in Philadelphia, PA. I too look forward to my week stay in Syracuse, NY October 7-14, 2008 to assist as her mentor and assistant if needed. We hope to recruit more family members into the life change of Sisterlocks and hopefully more Consultants to spread Sisterlocks throughout Upstate New York.

ROBIN'S LOCKS HAVEN APPRECIATION COOKOUT

Robin’s Locks Haven back from her leave of absence and excited to be servicing her clients again. I was truly motivated by my clients to return and I got extra motivation from future Sisters who want to start their Sisterlocks Journey. I referred some Sisters to other Consultant in the area, however there were several who wanted to wait for my return. This flattered me and I realized how much I am appreciated. It also made me thankful for Dr. Cornwell inventing this wonderful, genius technique.

To show my clients and the Consultants in the area that I asked to accommodate my clients in my leave of absence, I had a celebration at my home called the Robin’s Locks Haven Appreciation Cookout. The wonderful thing about giving back, was using one of my clients catering service (MACY’S CATERING) Stafford, VA. We had a grand time with plenty of good food and beautiful decorations. Some family attended to take photos and video the cookout and old family friends attended for support. Below I like to share some photos with you.

PRE SUMMER BREAK WITH ENTERTAINMENT

During my leave of absence recuperating from my surgery, I received prayers, lovely cards, flowers, fresh fruit cup and basket along with a beautiful glass tea pot. I appreciated all these items and especially the prayers that help me heal comfortably. I missed my clients and the daily swimming I would do, however I did start walking the track again that help me build up my strength. I was happy that the doctor released me in July before the Sisterlocks Homecoming.
I attended the Sisterlocks Homecoming on July 17-20, 2008. This was my second year attending. The agenda was full, the networking was good and the vendors were there with great products. Below are a few shots taken at the Sisterlocks Homecoming.

I created the name Robin’s Locks Haven for my Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks Business. I had an image in mind to create a relaxing and entertaining environment for my clients to get away and have their Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks created and maintenance in comfort. My family worked with me to create this comfort zone for my clients. I have had positive responses from my clients who have been with me over a year and the response from the new clients is what I was hoping for. Also, when my clients arrive, one of the most important elements in a business is safe parking for my clients which I have plenty. I will continue to make Robin’s Locks Haven stand up to its name…a Haven for Sisterlocks/Brothers to have one on one treatment in a comfortable, entertaining environment.

December 2007...Sisters with Sisterlocks

My 2007 winter holidays were great! My Big, Little Sister visited during the 2007 Christmas Holiday from Syracuse, NY. We started a plan back in September to transition her from relaxed hair to Sisterlocks. I have been working on her to get Sisterlocks as far back as 2003. Well, mission accomplished! We installed her Sisterlocks with two inches of regrowth on Friday, December 28-29, 2007. As her Sisterlocks grow, we will trim away that relaxed hair. She should be fully Sisterlocks with no relaxed ends by August 2008. Our next plan is to have her take the Sisterlocks Consultant Training in Phildelphia, PA, September 2008 and work toward her Sisterlocks Certification in Syracuse New York. My sister Denise is a wonderful seamstress and hat maker…she has always like working with hair too. I love that we are on this journey together. Below are pictures before and after her Sisterlocks Session.

Sisterlocks/Family Gatherings All in One

My family is from Syracuse, New York. We checked around for Sisterlocks Consultants but there are none in that area active. My cousin who lives in Syracuse expressed her desire to get Sisterlocks. This is the first grandchild in my family and also my first cousin. My cousin let me put her first perm in her hair…nothing to brag about now, however I can now brag with pride that she let me start and join her on her Sisterlocks Journey this weekend. I’m very familiar with her hair and knew that her hair would love to be Sisterlocks. This was the perfect weekend for her and my Big Sister to drive from Syracuse and join our immediate family for a Father’s Day Cookout. They arrived Friday morning. After her and my Sister relaxed from the ride, we started around 3:00 PM … we decided to pace ourselves over the three day weekend since they were not leaving until Monday morning. My Sister is interested in learning the Sisterlocks technique so she observed the entire session to see if she would be interested in taking the class. I am truly trying to persuade her because we need all the Consultants we can get and especially since we didn’t find any upstate in the Syracuse surroundings. We really enjoyed ourselves during this Sisterlocks Session because my Sister and another cousin who lives in the area cooked and served us along with watching lots of Chick DVDs. As for her maintenance, we have committed to visiting each other more often and since we have a big family, there’s no problem with her getting in her car for 6 hours to spend the weekend with family. Her follow up will be the second weekend in July when my family and I visit Syracuse for the Nieces and Nephew Family Gathering given by my Aunt who is a Great-Great-Great Aunt. We have also scheduled her 1st Retightening for September. As a treat to herself and my youngest Aunt, they will be taking a train ride to Virginia…neither of them have never traveled by train.

The journey continues for my client who came for her official first retightening after her follow up. She is excited because her hair isn't breaking or slipping. She can see and feel the difference from the beginning of her journey. Here are pictures as her locks are progressing. We will continue our journey in June. I really enjoy working with her because she knows her hair, and she really can appreciate Sisterlocks and how its helping with the strengthing and growth of her hair.

2010 Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks Session Package

As of 2010, Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks Session Starting at $600 (Hair Length up to 4 inches...Additional Length Price at $50 an Inch up to 7 inches and $100 and Inch 8 inches and more)...Package of 3 visits:

(1) Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks Consultation: At the first visit you pay $50 for the consultation, test Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks and confirmed appointment for the session. (This usually takes 1-2 hours) Please come with clean hair that has not been conditioned or combed. (It is recommended that you schedule your Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks Session not more then 2-3 weeks from this visit.) After your consultation visit, you should have shampoo your hair 2-3 times before your Scheduled Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks Session.

(2) Scheduled Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks Session...At this visit you pay the remaining cost discussed at your consultation. (This usually takes 12-18 hours so we would schedule this as a two day session).

(3) Follow up Visit...No payment...This visit cost is included in the Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks Session Package...At this visit, check and retighten Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks (This usually takes 2-4 hours.) Note: This visit should be made 3-4 weeks after your Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks Session.

(4) Maintenance...It is recommended that you schedule your Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks Retightening 6-8 Weeks...This cost is $30 an Hour.

Sisterlocks and Hair Care for the Ladies

I have been blessed to live my life abundantly with my family and enjoying my Sisterlocks Consultant Certification. I have been busy with my loyal clients who joined me when I was a Trainee. I made a wise choice investing in the Sisterlocks Website that has brought me several new clients. Not only do I enjoy using my expertise to accommodate these ladies, I truly enjoy their company and I will be sharing some Sisterlocks experiences on line.

I love the beginning of the Sisterlocks Journey with the ladies and after spending hours creating Sisterlocks, I am always amazed at the outcome. However, my first passion is hair care. I not only want to be of services to styling and coloring, I want to also accommodate ladies that have had challenges with their hair.

I can look at some ladies and think how their hair would love to be Sisterlocks. I am sharing some pictures below with one of my clients who I have offered to take her on a Sisterlocks Journey. Her hair is natural and she has had hair challenges for years using chemicals and extension. These items have cause baldness and thinning of hair around her edges and the back of her head. She has agreed and I have put Sisterlocks in her hair. This was her first Session and after her follow up I could start a few more Sisterlocks around the sides and back of her head. Along with the Sisterlocks, she is using the Sisterlocks Getting Started Shampoo along with an infused water using the herb Nettle. The herb Nettle retards baldness, antiseptic and is good for dandruff. If you want more information regarding infused water and herbs, I recommend reading NO LYE! (The African-American Woman's Guide to Natural Hair Care) book by Tulani Kinard. I look forward to her third re-tightening April 27th and I will be sure to update.

Celebrating and Reminiscing February 2006

I was enjoying retirement with my family before making the decision to adventure into a new career of Sisterlocks Consultant.
My family was very supportive in helping me make the decision to go for the training in Philadelphia. They have also been very helpful with making sure I have comfortable arrangements for my clients where and when I'm working. They were also very proud and happy that I accomplished my goal in becoming a Sisterlocks Certified Consultant.

Last year February 2006 I took the Sisterlocks Training in Philadelphia, PA. I met Sisters, wearing Sisterlocks, Traditional Locks and Relaxed hair. However one thing we all had in common was we were all there for the Sisterlocks Training. I will always remember the experience I shared training with the Sisters and the Master Trainers we had. It was great being trained by Denise Dixon-Robert of Philadelphia and Celeste Geary of California and also Dr. Cornwell’s Sister. There was a snow storm in Philadelphia and fortunately for us Dr. Cornwell was snow in so she too assisted in the training. We also enjoyed the Meet and Greet Reception given for us and we all had a chance to mingle in a relaxed environment. I’m looking forward to the July 22-25, 2007 Home Coming in San Diego, CA.

Transitioning from Relaxed Perm to Sisterlocks and Loving It

This client also helped me complete my journey into certification. I was fortunate to have three clients who hair was totally different. Unlike the first two clients, this client hair was relaxed with two inches of natural growth. However, her natural growth was a short coarse tight curl. We knew it would love to lock. We’ve been trimming the relaxed ends gradually. When it gets to the length she is comfortable with, we will take off all the relaxed ends.

After a two day session (15 hours), we set her hair in rods so she could ease into the transition. However, she works out just about every morning so she braids and bend the ends to get a free style look.
Future pictures to come after all the relaxed end are gone.

My client has been into her Sisterlocks Journey for 8 months and we cut off all the relaxed ends. She's overjoyed and now feels that she is really into the journey with all her hair Sisterlocks.

Natural Sista went for the Sisterlocks

This client contributed to my certification. After trying the twist and traditional locks, she search the web and became interested in Sisterlocks…she also search for a Certified Consultant in the Stafford, VA area. As I’ve said before, “Sisterlocks is a Sisterhood.” She made contact with my Consultant who recommended me and vouch for my work.

After making contact with me and going through the consultation, we set a date for the Sisterlocks Session July 2006. The session was set for two days (17 Hours). She had been wearing her hair natural for years. She has beauty thick tight curly hair that loves to lock.

We curl her hair after the first session to give her a little style and get use to her Sisterlocks.

She loves wearing her hair freestyle now and it really suit her and her Sisterlocks. It' been Five Months and she here for a retightenting. Below is the pictures before her retightening January 2007.

Believing You Can Have Sisterlocks

This client and I are from New York and we grew up together. As a License Cosmetologist I tooked care of her hair and now a Sisterlocks Certified Consultant I still take care of her hair.

She made the commitment to me before I was trained to be my first client to use for certification. Although her hair had been natural for a while, it began thinning in the top area and around the edges. The texture had a very smooth curl and she couldn’t do anything with her hair. Her husband didn't believe her hair would lock. When she was natural, she had braid extensions put in her hair and her husband would find them around the house on the floor. She didn't realize she was loosing her extensions.

Unfortunately, she sprung her ankle the day before the session and she was very uncomfortable. So I brought my comfortable chair for her to sit in so she could elevate her leg. We made it a girls sleepover...we took breaks so she could move around. We had a wonderful dinner and breakfast with light snack during the breaks. It was pleasant, fun and memorable.

March 2006 a two day session comleted in 17 hours. We set it on the long spongy tube and style her hair.

This client is also a swimmer who has a pool in her back yard and swimmmed everyday the weather permitted. We had some slippage, however her hair started getting thicker. Pictures August 2006.

Well yeah, she's vain and wanted color from day one, however I told her she had to wait. She was patient and finally her locks were settling nicely and she had no slippage. After a few months I colored her hair and she couldn't be more please. Picture December 2006.

Her husband was very supportive and now he's believes he has a Sister in the house with Sisterlocks!

My Very First Client

My very first client was 6 years olds…very wise and patient. Her Grandmother has Sisterlocks and she wanted her hair like her Grandma. Although I couldn't use her for my certificatin, this was a Sisterlocks Session done with my Certified Sisterlocks Consultant. The session was completed in 10 hours. We had plenty of Walt Disney Fairy Tales videos. After each movie, we gave her a break with snacks, fruit and pizza. This truly was in experience and a beginning for me.

She likes her hair in the little knots.
Remembering she's 6 years old, all 6 years old aren't too patient so you have to find distractions for them. During her retightenings, we watch videos and have snacks and fruit breaks. Her retightening are usually 2-4 hours...with the breaks it usually takes up to 5 hours.

I enjoyed a Carribean Cruise in August 2003 with family and friend. It was a Black Tie night.

It was a relaxing cruise too. The rooms weren't small and we had a nice balcony to hang out on.

I enjoyed the versatality with my Sisterlocks.

We all like taking pictures before dinner. I had plenty of nieces to take picture with.

Hair became my passion as a child playing in my Great-Grandmother, Grandmother and Mother’s hair. I became a Licensed Cosmetologist 1973. I practiced in New York before moving to Washington, DC 1977. While in DC, I worked out of my home part time through 1994 before my real job as a Convention and Conference Meeting Planner took precedence. I stopped working with chemical relaxers and would only color and cut hair for family and friends. My hair has been press, relaxed, cut short, braided and twisted until a friend told me about Sisterlocks. I reviewed the website and immediately made an appointment for November 25-26, 2002 with a Trained Sisterlocks Consultant working to become a Certified Consultant. I love my Sisterlocks and it was one of the best investments in my hair and life. These past four years, I have been able to take care of myself physically by exercising and swimming three days a week without worrying about my hair. I retired in 2005 after 25 years with National Education Association to spend more time with my family (husband and 13 years old son) living in Stafford, VA. I wanted to find a Consultant in the Stafford County area since I didn’t have to travel to D.C. I found a Consultant listed on the website and our Sisterlocks journey began. My Consultant convinced me to take the re-tightening training and become familiar with doing my own Sisterlocks between visits. This motivated me to take the Official Four Days Sisterlocks Training Class. I was very excited starting my journey as a Sisterlocks Trained Consultant. I learned that Sisterlocks is also Sisterhood. I received support and referrals from my Consultant. After submitting my Sisterlocks Application for Certification. I was recommend for Certification. I have completed part of my goal. I look forward continuing my journey and becoming a Sisterlocks Certified Associate Master /Trainer.
